Thanks to a grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation, Urban Pantry has built 6 new community gardens in Barrie since 2018.

Several additional community gardens are set to be constructed over the next year, including three more City of Barrie gardens and one more at Barrie Housing.

The wellness garden at CMHA has raised beds for growing food, a picnic area with a pergola, and a circular rock seating area for group meetings.

This garden is utilized by CMHA clients and program managers.

The raised bed garden at RSVP is a u-shape container for growing food. The food is harvested and used in the kitchen on site, where our community classes are held.

There is also an indoor growing unit for growing herbs all winter, which are used for soups.

Two community gardens at Barrie Housing sites allow residents to grow their own food, through a mixture of shared and individual plots.

Shear Park was built in partnership with the City of Barrie as part of the official Community Garden Program

It consists of 18 plots, including raised beds for accessibility, available to residents of Barrie to rent on an annual basis.
